Transportation is one of the largest businesses in the US. According to the research of dash cam in the US, the market growth is sharp. And it’s expected to enlarge double in years. There are many dash cam players. However, only a few major players are leading the high-end products business.

High-end products are including fancy features such as HDR, Super Night Vision, ADAS, Speed Alarm, High-Resolution Rate, Long Durability, Cloud Service, Recording Stability, etc., which can affect a driver’s safety and the quality of recorded videos. Since there are a few high-end dash cam manufacturers in the world, also the market growth is positive, the high-end market is still a blue ocean. On the other hand, the low-end market is dominated by Chinese products. Although the qualities are bad, many people are still choosing it because of the low price. For example, although a 1CH LCD dash cam of Apeman has a bad video quality, especially at night, and cannot guarantee whether the recording survives in a harsh environment and a strong impact, their low-price policy is working well. Main buyers for commercial dash cam 

Hence, the market we should approach is the high-end, less competitive category. There are four main hubs of the business in the US which are Texas, California, Florida and, New York states. Those four hubs are covering most of the transportation in the US. Then who would be our major buyers? There are many transportation companies having a contract with truck drivers. Those are the main targets that we should advertise to and sell our products to. Using advantages such as GPS tracking, live streaming, and GEO-FENCE which is an important factor that the dash cam must have, there would be a lot of opportunities to attract the users who don’t need a fleet management solution but a dash cam with a cloud service among the target buyers. Compared with the fleet management solution, the dash cam with the cloud is cost-effective. It is worth look to target the transportation company that needs a low-cost fleet management dash cam.

Government policy 

Also, it’s necessary to consider government policy in each state. For example, the Texas government announced the ‘Vehicle Connecting Plan’ that lets vehicles communicate via some kind of radio signal. A dash cam is an electrical item so we can add features and functions that the plan required.

Non-commercial dash cam business 

The non-commercial dash cam sector is much more competitive. Among them, only 5 brands have a cloud service at the moment. Although the non-commercial dash cam market is competitive, those are leading the main market and trend as it is mostly occupied by Samsung and Apple in the mobile phone business.
